Nintendo has officially unveiled the highly anticipated next-gen console, the Nintendo Switch 2, and the excitement is already off the charts! A teaser trailer gave fans their first look at the console’s sleek new design, upgraded features, and even teased a brand-new Mario Kart game. From improved hardware to backward compatibility with the original Switch library, the Switch 2 is shaping up to be a game-changer for Nintendo fans everywhere. Here’s what you need to know about the Nintendo Switch 2

  • A full reveal is set for April 2, 2025
  • Console is expected to be released by mid to late 2025.

It will have backwards compatibility with most physical and digital Switch games, and will continue to use the Nintendo Switch Online service. Earlier reports suggested that some Switch games, such as Breath of the Wild, will be released in an “enhanced” version that will take advantage of the successor hardware. It also uses magnetic Joy-Cons, and has a different dock design.

During the reveal trailer, a new Mario Kart game was unveiled – featuring a different art style reminiscent of both Super Mario Bros. Wonder and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
